An initial consultation at Spriggs Nutrition typically lasts around 60-90 minutes, and can be carried out in person*, or via secure Zoom consultations.
Prior to the consultation you will be sent a link to our online health assessment questionnaire, plus a food and lifestyle diary to complete. This allows us to maximise your appointment, if you are unsure about any of the questions then these can be discussed at the appointment.
For in person appointments, on arrival at the clinic, you will be greeted by one of our team before being invited to our private consultation room by principal Nutritional Therapist Helen Spriggs. For online sessions, a dedicated video link (via Zoom) and password will be sent to you in advance of your appointment.
The session itself lasts approximately 60-90 minutes, during which you will discuss your main symptom or complaint, if your case is complex a longer appointment may be scheduled. In addition medical history, food intake and lifestyle will be discussed allowing us to gain an understanding of your current health status. We suggest bringing any recent (within last 6 months) tests results with you, for example relevant blood tests.
Report of Findings
When booking your initial consultation we will also book your Report of Findings. At this 30 minute appointment you will be guided through your personalised nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, and if required supplementation plan. If deemed necessary you will also be provided with a copy of a referral letter, for example to your GP. Equally if any private functional testing is required this will be discussed at this time.
Follow-ups are suggested, to allow you to seek additional support, as well as for us to assess any changes in your symptom or condition. These 30 minute appointments are usually booked for 4-8 weeks later, subject to your individual situation. We strongly recommend you book at least one follow up, this allows us to review your progress and make any alterations. In some cases it may be an external factor has influenced the ability to adhere to a plan or reach your goals, and so this is a great opportunity to review and amend accordingly. Equally if you have made great progress we can update with new goals.
In between appointments there may be situations where you want some additional advice, and we encourage you to reach out to us for support. Within the initial consultation fee you pay, there is an allowance of up to 20 minutes of accumulative email/phone support between appointments.
As explained, you will be asked to fill in a health assessment questionnaire prior to your first appointment, there may be additional questionnaires following this appointment to allow us to track your progress going forward.
Many symptoms people suffer with are quite subjective, for example pain. People have different pain thresholds, therefore it is important for us to establish your baseline from where we are starting. Then at future appointments / regular intervals we can redo these questionnaires to assess progress and make amendments to your plan.
